Burma Storybook impact & outreach

Burma Storybook impact & outreach

We wanted to bring the film to the poets we worked with and to audiences in Myanmar. We organized free screenings of Burma Storybook throughout Myanmar, reaching an audience of 50 000 viewers. The highlights were showing the film outside City Hall in Yangon to 5000 people – the largest outdoor screening ever held in the country. And showing the film in city hall in Myeik to 1000 viewers, the hometown of poet Maung Aung Pwint. Finally he received public recognition so long denied him.

We also published a Burmese-only low-cost language version of our poetry and photography book accompanying the film and distributed it in two editions throughout Myanmar.
